Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Family Health Center

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides clinical support to patients and the interdisciplinary healthcare team within the Family Health Center. Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the CNA assists with patient flow, rooming, vital signs, CLIA-waived testing, specimen collection, basic patient care, infection prevention, and other clinical duties for which training and competency have been completed.

Duties are performed within established Health Center policies, procedures, and delegation requirements. The CNA does not independently perform nursing assessments, triage, diagnosis, or other functions requiring clinical judgment.

$19.00/hr Starting Pay

Schedule: Monday - Friday 40 hours. Shifts rotating between 8-4, 830-430, 9-5, and 10a-6p.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assist with daily patient flow, including weight, height, BMI, vital signs, medication and allergy reconciliation, chief complaint, and clinical care guideline updates.
• Assist providers and nursing staff with patient examinations and procedures.
• Collect, label, handle, and process specimens and perform approved CLIA-waived testing, including urine dips, supervised and unsupervised urine drug screens, urine pregnancy tests, blood glucose finger sticks, fecal occult blood tests, COVID-19, influenza, strep, mononucleosis, A1C, and other approved waived tests.
• Perform EKGs and ensure tracings are available to licensed clinical staff for review and interpretation.
• Complete approved patient screening forms and escalate responses requiring clinical assessment or follow-up.
• Assist with minor wound care and other approved clinical procedures under appropriate clinical direction.
• Serve as a chaperone during examinations and procedures when requested or required.
• Enter office procedures, applicable billing charges, point-of-care test results, and other pertinent clinical information into the EHR.
• Schedule and cancel patient appointments in the EHR as assigned.
• Submit PT-1 transportation applications.
• Assist providers with patient paperwork, including RMV, DTA, PFML, housing, accommodation, and other forms.
• Stock examination rooms and clinical areas.
• Monitor expiration dates and remove expired, damaged, contaminated, or compromised clinical supplies.
• Complete assigned daily reports, including DRVS and other Health Center operational reports.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste according to infection-prevention and safety procedures.
• Clean and disinfect examination rooms, clinical equipment, and patient-care areas.
• Perform approved cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes, including operation of the autoclave when assigned.
• Follow standard precautions, hand hygiene, and infection-prevention requirements.
• Understand and respond appropriately to emergency codes and Health Center emergency procedures.
• Maintain current BLS/CPR certification and participate in emergency preparedness activities and drills.
• Work collaboratively with providers, RNs, LPNs, Medical Assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements.
• Complete required orientation, annual education, monthly Health Center training, and clinical competencies before independently performing applicable clinical duties.
• Promptly escalate situations requiring nursing assessment, clinical interpretation, triage, or clinical decision-making to licensed clinical staff.
• Travel between all three Health Center locations based on staffing and operational needs.
• Work one evening shift until 6:00/6:30 p.m. per week and provide evening coverage as needed for vacations, callouts, or staffing needs.
• Utilize linguistic capacity as part of the position when appropriate.
• Adhere to the assigned work schedule and obtain supervisor approval for schedule conflicts, late arrivals, or early departures.
• Accurately record all hours worked by the end of each pay period.
• Perform other duties as required within scope of practice.

Required Experience:

Requirements:

• GED/High School.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification required; CPR required.
• 2 years of experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant required.

Preferred:

• Pediatric experience preferred.
• NVCI; bilingual preferred
