The Kostelic Agency is conducting a search for an experienced Assistant Controller to join a rapidly growing, multi-state organization headquartered in Phoenix. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, where you'll help lead the accounting function through the company's next phase of growth. The organization has grown from approximately $300M in annual revenue in 2025 and is projected to exceed $400M this year, driven by continued expansion into new markets and strategic acquisitions.

Scope & Impact

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes while ensuring timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial statement preparation.
• Own technical accounting areas including ASC 842 lease accounting, fixed assets, and internal controls.
• Support mergers and acquisitions, including purchase accounting and post-acquisition integration.
• Lead annual audit activities and serve as a key liaison with external auditors.
• Drive accounting process improvements, ERP enhancements, and system implementation initiatives.
• Partner closely with Operations and executive leadership to improve reporting, strengthen processes, and support continued growth.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred; MBA a plus).
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
• Experience within multi-entity, multi-location organizations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting, fixed assets, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• ERP implementation or system conversion experience preferred.
• Experience with Sage Intacct and/or ServiceTitan is highly desirable.
• Private equity and M&A experience is a plus.
