Maintenance Tech

Job Description

Job Description

Now Hiring: Maintenance Technician | Portland, OR

Tenants rarely notice the person who keeps a building in good shape. They notice when that person isn’t there.

We’re partnering with an established commercial real estate firm in Portland that needs a Maintenance Technician to support a mixed portfolio of Class A and B office buildings, parking garages, and light industrial properties.

What you’ll handle:

• Serving as a go-to resource for tenants, with customer service as the top priority
• Handling preventive maintenance on building interiors and exteriors
• Doing painting, carpentry, and light plumbing
• Monitoring energy and utility usage
• Coordinating vendors and ordering supplies
• Supporting tenant improvements and alterations
• Keeping vacant spaces in show-ready condition
• Escorting building and fire inspectors and reporting any findings
• Driving a company vehicle between properties

What they’re looking for:

• 5+ years of maintenance experience in Class A or B commercial buildings or multifamily properties
• A solid command of tools and mechanical work, including a basic understanding of HVAC systems
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Self-direction, so you can work independently and spot problems early
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• A high school diploma or equivalent. CPR certification is preferred (training provided)

The practical details: This is an essential services role, so it includes on-call evenings, rotating weekends, and response during weather emergencies. The work is physical: ladders, outdoor exposure, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Some government tenants may require an additional background check.

Why it’s worth a look: The firm invests in training and has a real path into facilities and systems management for people who want to grow. It also has a strong reputation as a place to work, with medical, dental, and vision coverage, professional development, parking, and a transit pass.
