Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac PCU RN for a night shift telemetry position requiring prior travel experience, surgical telemetry background, and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital environment
• Cardiac PCU setting treating myocardial infarction, rule-out MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart and vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR patients
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, with up to 1:5 at midnight
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units, including sister facilities within the state
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required, including surgical telemetry, open-heart surgery, and vascular (groin/radial band management) experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and phlebotomy
• Experience with cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with chest tubes, sternal precautions, and post open-heart surgery care
• VAD and TAVR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct care including breathing treatments, chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precaution management
• Administer blood and blood products, perform cardioversion/defibrillation, and manage epicardial pacers
• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias, including remote and on-unit telemetry monitoring
• Care for LVAD and open-heart surgery patients in the 24-28 hour post-op period
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All time off requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay rate; local candidates may be accepted at a lower rate
• Former permanent employees of this health system may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
