Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS & NIHSS required Must-Have: Charge experience preferred Ability to float to other units as required Ability to work every other weekend and holidays Description: The Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse will provide care to patients with various diagnoses. The position requires working a night shift of 12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15. The nurse will be expected to care for a patient ratio of 1:6 during shifts. Responsibilities include interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias. The nurse will monitor telemetry and provide care for patients with various medical conditions such as diabetes, dementia, and COPD. The role involves administering blood products and performing central line blood draws. Wound care and management of colostomies and ileostomies are included in the duties. The nurse must be skilled in starting and maintaining IVs and managing feeding tubes. The use of rapid response/code teams will be required, along with effective communication with interdisciplinary teams. All nurses must adhere to infection control protocols and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary. There will be a maximum of 7 days for time off during the contract period. Additional responsibilities will include participation in storm and hurricane team duties as needed. Resiliency during major events or emergencies is an essential requirement for this position. No requests for blocked scheduling will be accepted unless for weekend blocks of Friday through Monday.
