The Opportunity

As a dedicated Product Development Director, you will manage the end‑to‑end execution of complex, multi‑phased ecosystem initiatives, translating strategy into integrated, actionable delivery across product, platform, and partner workstreams. Orchestrate cross‑functional teams in a highly matrixed environment, aligning stakeholders around a unified roadmap while proactively managing dependencies, risks, and execution performance. Drive seamless, connected customer journeys by coordinating internal teams and external partners, ensuring technical integration, operational readiness, and consistent delivery quality. Serve as the central point of leadership and executive communication, providing clear visibility, influencing prioritization, and establishing governance, processes, and accountability to deliver scalable, high‑impact outcomes.

This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

• Responsible for development of digital first products supporting the needs and risks of USAA Members Leads development and launch of new innovative product offerings as well as auxiliary/enhanced features/services for existing products.

• Responsible for maintaining thorough level of knowledge of business and underwriting performance for products in scope (e.g. Trends, results, etc.) Responsible for post-launch monitoring, maintenance and underwriting of 'new in market' products based on product performance, member needs and competitive changes in the market including but not limited to product rules, rates, and forms.

• Develop recommendations to launch new products and the evaluation and decision to buy/build or ally for individual product(s).

• Generate creative product and coverage solutions for members needs to ensure a dynamic product development pipeline exists.

• Responsible for maintaining thorough level of knowledge of business and underwriting performance for products in scope (e.g. trends, results, etc.).

• Responsible for post-launch monitoring, maintenance and underwriting of 'new in market' products based on product performance, member needs and competitive changes in the market including but not limited to product rules, rates, and forms.

• Conduct complex analysis of internal and external data and member information to support formulation of product strategy and enhance competitive intelligence.

• Develop and communicate the new product value proposition for individual products.

• Ensure sales support is delivered to all distribution channels (e.g., com, mobile, contact center) so that the new product is properly positioned to members.

• Lead the analysis and evaluation of new product performance metrics to make changes to offerings, if necessary, prior to full launch.

• Coordinate with relevant control partners (to include Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management) to ensure product offerings are designed and implemented in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. ​

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

• Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Financial Services or relevant military experience.

• Extensive experience in developing, deploying and supporting products and/or integrated suite of products.

• Experience working through agile product development process, managing multiple products simultaneously.

• Knowledge and application of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

• Creative problem solver with hands on experience in problem framing, qualitative & quantitative research, running product experiments, hypothesis testing and prototyping to launch products at the intersection of Human, Technology and Business dimensions.

• Navigates through ambiguous contexts with confidence.

• Ability to break large complex initiatives into smaller manageable features and capabilities and deliver them early and often. ​

• Experience delivering API-driven, partner-enabled ecosystem capabilities.

• Familiarity with auto and/or home lifecycle journeys and the coordination required across partners and platforms.

• Ability to connect technical delivery, partner integration, and operational readiness into a unified execution model.

Builder Mindset

• Experience standing up net-new initiatives or ventures in emerging or evolving spaces.

• Comfortable creating structure, governance, and alignment in ambiguous environments.

• Focused on delivering tangible outcomes and business value through disciplined execution.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310.00 - $243,340.00 .

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
