Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Position Purpose To design and implement a comprehensive, best-in-class physical preparation framework to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and sustain a culture of championship habits and behaviors within the daily training environment for assigned teams. This includes planning, coaching, administering, and programming within NCAA, Ivy League, and institutional standards. Reporting to the Director of Strength & Conditioning for Olympic Sports, the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach collaborates seamlessly with coaches and the Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) team, leveraging interdisciplinary expertise to provide holistic support for student-athletes’ health, wellness, and development—empowering them to excel both on and off the field. Description Dartmouth Athletics and Recreation is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our team. The position supports student-athlete development by designing and implementing a comprehensive, best-in-class physical preparation framework to enhance athletic performance, minimize injury risk and sustain a culture of championship habits and behaviors. This role works closely with the Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs and other teams as assigned. The successful candidate will collaborate with Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2), contributing interdisciplinary expertise to support student-athletes’ health, wellness, and development. Responsibilities Work with head coaches to schedule, supervise, and conduct training sessions, including strength, conditioning, agility, and speed programs. Develop and deliver year‑round sport‑specific training programs to maximize performance and limit injury. Assess athlete performance and injury risk, design corrective programs, and document progress. Collaborate with team doctors, athletic trainers, nutritionists, and other specialists to enhance athlete development. Maintain current knowledge of strength & conditioning best practices and apply research findings to program design. Assist with scheduling and management of varsity weight rooms and other training facilities. Participate in selection, training, and supervision of interns and student workers. Engage in professional development activities, including membership in the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or graduate degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field. Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by NSCA, or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience coaching NCAA Division I, professional, or Olympic athletes. Proficiency in teaching Olympic movements, speed, acceleration, agility, and flexibility techniques. Experience designing training and reconditioning programs for injured athletes. Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills. Proficiency with performance technology (e.g., Catapult, force plates). Knowledge of nutrition fundamentals. Proficient computer skills, especially in Excel. Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in exercise science or related field. First Aid and CPR certification.
