Responds to Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR and performing airway maintenance and procedural respiratory support. Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and multidisciplinary team consultations to determine therapy efficacy and make appropriate recommendations. Performs respiratory therapies, oxygen delivery therapies, and makes recommendations for efficient delivery methods. Obtains, analyzes, and reports findings of arterial blood gases, co-oximetry, and performs quality controls. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation. Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures, including equipment setup and breakdown. Provides effective patient education on therapy modalities to patients and their families. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control methods, safe body mechanics, and applicable regulations and standards. Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards and training. Interprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Assesses, stabilizes, and treats neonates and pediatric patients according to established respiratory services protocols. Other duties as assigned.
