Assistant or Associate Professor Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UT Southwestern/ Parkland Memorial Hospital is searching for a full-time surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on academic/clinical track. The salary and academic rank are commensurate with education, training, and experience. Responsibilities will include staffing the resident clinics, residency education, supervision, and training, taking on-calls at the sponsoring institutions and the satellite hospitals including direct active patient care in the faculty practice. Also includes providing lectures, seminars and conferences and other didactic components that relate to the requirements of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency Training program has a rich legacy and heritage as a beacon of advanced specialty education. The faculty is expected practice the full scope of the specialty (Trauma, Reconstructive, Orthognathic surgery, Temporomandibular Joint Surgery, Implant/All-0n-Four, Pathology, Dentoalveolar, and Anesthesia) at all participating affiliated health care institutions. The state-of-the-art 20-treatment room Faculty practice that is located at 1440 Empire Central Drive enhances the clinical activities of the residents as they work collaboratively with the OMFS faculty during the perioperative management of the surgical patient. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is a world-renowned leader in the treatment of orthopedic conditions and certain related arthritic and neurological disorders and learning disorders. Scottish Rite Hospital is not affiliated with the OMFS training program. Role Description The Assistant or Associate Professor Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon will provide comprehensive surgical care to patients, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing inpatient and outpatient cases, performing complex oral surgery, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in call coverage as needed. The role includes teaching responsibilities such as supervising residents and fellows, delivering didactic instruction, and contributing to curriculum development in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The faculty member is expected to engage in scholarly activities, which may include clinical research, quality improvement projects, and participation in professional conferences. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Dallas, TX, with active involvement in the academic and clinical missions of UT Southwestern Medical Center. Qualifications Candidates should possess advanced clinical skills in Oral Surgery, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of a broad range of oral and maxillofacial procedures. Candidates should possess strong foundational knowledge in Medicine and Dentistry to manage medically complex patients and coordinate care with other specialties. Candidates should possess skills in Anesthesiology related to sedation and perioperative management, and a thorough understanding of anesthetic considerations in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Candidates should possess expertise in Dental Implants, including surgical placement, site preparation, and collaboration with restorative dental providers. Board eligibility or certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and licensure (or eligibility for licensure) to practice in Texas. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, mentoring, and working in an academic environment with learners at multiple levels. Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
