Process Development Senior Scientist

Amgen seeks a Process Development Senior Scientist to join the Drug Product Team, designing experiments and developing innovative approaches for oral solid dosage forms. The role involves collaborating across multiple functions to advance pivotal and commercial drug programs through deep expertise in organic chemistry and physicochemical properties.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments and design-of-experiments during development of pivotal and commercial programs
• Provide technical expertise on structure, reactivity, and physicochemical properties of drug substances and excipients
• Collaborate across Drug Product Team and partner functions including Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Development
• Summarize experimental results in technical documents, regulatory filings, and presentations
• Engage with external industry groups and academic organizations to advance process development knowledge

Requirements

• Doctorate degree, or Master's degree with 2+ years scientific experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years scientific experience
• Ph.D. in organic chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or pharmaceutical sciences preferred
• Comprehensive understanding of organic molecules, solid-state chemistry, and small molecule physicochemical properties
• Pharmaceutical industry experience with oral solid dosage forms development and manufacturing
• Proficiency with characterization techniques including XRPD, DSC, TGA, and SEM
• Ability to design and conduct independent formulation research with strong technical writing skills
• Track record of cross-functional collaboration and research publication
