Clarion Psychiatric Center offers inpatient treatment for adults with moderate to severe psychiatric problems, inpatient crisis stabilization for children and adolescents, and a Partial Hospitalization Program for school-aged children. Our recently expanded 112-bed inpatient program has four units. Clarion Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting a full time therapist to join our clinical team. Job Description

Provide therapy to individuals and/or groups relative to treatment issues and goals. Serve as a member of hospital committees. Perform group therapy and assessment of various patient groups to determine chemical dependency treatment needs. Serve as part of the treatment team.

Job Specifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in each criteria listed in this job description. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for re-assignment to units providing care to varied populations, including children, adolescents, adults. • Education: Masters degree in social service field is required.
• License/Certification: Not required.
• Experience: Inpatient/outpatient psychiatric experience preferred. Providing individual and/or group therapy.
• Knowledge/Skills: Family dynamics, casework, interpersonal relationships and regional social policy. Knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit-setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behaviors, CPR training. Communication skills and ability to teach patients.
• Supervision Exercised: None.
• Supervision Received: Director of Clinical Services/PI.

General working environment: Hospital setting. Some risk involved in the event of the presence of an aggressive/violent patient. Works in a well-lit and ventilated setting, is subject to frequent interruptions, is involved with the patients and personnel throughout designated unit under varying conditions and circumstances. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B viruses.

Physical requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and be able to walk and stand for long periods. Able to participate in crisis prevention intervention. The physical requirements described herein are representative of those, which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job.
