Overview

Whether working in acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, or specialized units like ICU or trauma centers, you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive nursing services that promote healing and well-being.

Duties

• Perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform individualized care plans.

• Administer medications via various routes such as injections, IV infusions, and oral medications while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.

• Manage complex clinical procedures including catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, ventilator management, and wound care.

• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and follow-up care for diverse populations including pediatrics,

geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Provide emergency interventions in urgent situations like acute pain management or trauma response within Level I or Level II trauma centers.

• Conduct laboratory specimen collection and processing while maintaining strict infection control standards and HIPAA compliance.

• Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as medication administration, nutrition, chronic disease management, and post-acute care instructions.

• Support triage processes in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient needs effectively.

• Demonstrate proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing purposes.

Qualifications

• Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with the appropriate state licensing board.

• Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine is highly preferred.

• Hands-on experience with specialized procedures including cardiac catheterization, dialysis support, ostomy care, or neonatal ventilator management is a plus.

• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner to ensure seamless documentation and communication.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and pharmacology principles.

• Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (neonatal & toddler care), geriatrics (memory & dementia care), behavioral health patients or individuals with disabilities.

• Ability to perform physical examinations accurately and conduct diagnostic evaluations as needed.

• Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
