Lead Commercial Manager

The Commercial Manager (CM) drives functional and operational Commercial Intensity and Policy 5.0 rigor for assigned deal opportunities. The CM manages quoting, proposal generation, contract negotiation, and ITO-OTR turnover processes for all assigned deal opportunities within the segment and sub-region. In this role you will handle less defined scope work, be involved in both short‑term and long‑term planning, and contribute to overall business strategy. Responsibilities include proposal preparation, contract negotiation, compliance with contractual commitments, and commercial risk assessment within established policies. Roles and Responsibilities Key member of the region Inquiry To Order (ITO) team supporting region commitments, orders, sales, cash, operating profit, and margin targets. Lead ITO proposal generation and contract formation for low to medium‑complex projects, developing winning strategies and ensuring compliance with Policy 5.0 risk management. Drive proposal and contract processes, develop scope, cost, risk, and market/value pricing strategy, and provide technical and commercial solutions meeting customer and GE requirements. Collaborate with sales, operations, and other functional teams during deal development to incorporate technical risk points and business risk acceptance. Prepare and lead the Regional/Deal Team Policy 5.0 review process with Commercial Directors, SME, approvers, and functional teams. Coordinate ITO process compliance and metrics, emphasizing Policy 5.0, proposal and contract completeness, timeliness, and quality, and efficiency of ITO‑OTR handover. Continuously refine ITO processes, participating in regional simplification projects to improve speed, reduce waste, and increase commercial intensity. Ensure adherence to all government contracting requirements with GE legal support. Exercise Commercial Manager deviation and signature authority within the Power Services Policy 5.0 Process and Signature Authority Matrix. Enforce order‑booking requirements and improve OTR turnover for contract flow‑down control. Reduce cost‑of‑quality issues from inaccurate or poor scope definition, costing, or contract drafting during the ITO process. Develop personal commercial and technical skills for ITO empowerment, simplification, and speed. ITO Metrics: Orders, Sales, Margin %, Operating Profit, and Cash Price enhancement Policy 5.0 Compliance R1 Responsiveness Required Qualifications Graduate degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline from an accredited institution. Minimum 3 years’ experience within the Power Generation Industry. Desired Characteristics Strong time‑management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Strategic business mindset with solid understanding of financials and long‑term contracts. Proficiency in financial analysis tools for scenario modeling and informed deal decisions. Excellent business acumen and ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations. Strong oral, written, and technical/commercial communication skills, including contract reading and writing. Clear communication and influence skills with deal teams. Interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, building trust quickly. High integrity and ethical judgment in all decisions and actions.
