Instructor, French - Adjunct

Teaching faculty support student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. Responsibilities Prepare and teach French courses designed for transfer and support of career technical programs, including classroom and online delivery via Canvas. Develop learner-centered lesson plans and employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for diverse learning styles. Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments. Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population. Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including syllabi, supplementary materials, and instructional media. Conduct assessment of student learning outcomes and evaluate courses and programs. Participate in professional development to maintain currency in the field and advance teaching skills. Provide daily oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records; maintain classroom and lab spaces; ensure safety and security of instructional materials. Maintain student records (grades, attendance) using systems such as Colleague, Self-Service, and Canvas. Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations. Conduct recruiting activities and promote retention/persistence by assisting students with strategies for success. Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate. Demonstrate employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, teamwork. Perform duties assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Education Required: Master’s degree in French or related field, institutionally accredited, with minimum 18 graduate semester hours in French. Education Preferred: Doctoral degree in French from an institutionally accredited university. Experience Required: Post-secondary teaching experience in French. Community College teaching experience. Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes. Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems. Competencies: Ability to multitask, support GTCC’s vision and mission, adapt to changing procedures, create learner-centered environment, effectively implement and apply technology solutions. Requirements and Trainings Mandatory GTCC trainings upon hire and annually: Reporting Requirements, Discrimination & Anti-Harassment, Shooter on Campus, Personal Information Protection, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Linking Student Learning Outcomes, Canvas Certification (if teaching online or hybrid).
