Transportation Fleet Planner I

Role Description

Each year Scholastic Book Fairs, in partnership with schools across the country, hosts more than 100,000 book fair events that give more than 35 million students and their families access to thousands of affordable and educational products, helping foster a lifelong love of reading. School Reading Events is currently in search of a full time REMOTE Fleet Planner to accurately complete assigned weekly fleet routing within compliance and KPI thresholds to create the highest efficiency transportation plans according to established deadlines while maintaining clear and concise communication with internal customers in Distribution, Operations, and Sales to ensure complete customer satisfaction and clarify expectations.

The Fleet Planner will be responsible for:

• Completing weekly preliminary and final routing of assigned branches by assigned deadlines according to established route compliance requirements.
• Completing all requested route changes for assigned branches within established timelines according to established route compliance requirements.
• Staying abreast of Scholastic’s network needs, limitations, and intricacies.
• Tracking progress against efficiency goals and making strategy adjustments to course correct as needed.
• Supporting communication among necessary divisions to avoid service misses.
• Creating reports, analysis, or graphs as requested to present results of analysis projects.
• Analyzing route metrics and making suggestions for improved efficiencies for assigned branches.
• Regularly reviewing route data for accuracy and DOT compliance.
• Maintaining and adhering to information provided on branch info sheets.
• Maintaining data entry reporting as requested, including data for sale exceptions reports.
• Creating and archiving exports and files as requested by assigned deadlines.
• Providing coverage for coworkers as needed.

• Strong Computer Skills:

  • Basic office software skills: Outlook (email and calendar functions), navigating network drives, Teams.
• Self-starter: Willing and able to seek out and use available resources to find answers and solve problems independently.
• High degree of professionalism and basic business acumen.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Good time management skills.
