National Account Manager

Primary Purpose:

The National Account Manager manages Swisher’s key retail and wholesale accounts within Grocery and Dollar Channel and their respective distributors. This role drives volume, revenue, and share growth through strategic selling, relationship development, and flawless execution of customer business plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned national accounts to achieve volume, revenue, and profit targets.
• Develop and execute customer business plans aligned with channel strategies and account-specific objectives.
• Lead Joint Business Planning (JBP) and collaborate with buyers and category managers to strengthen long-term partnerships.
• Execute insight-driven selling that integrates category, shopper, and financial data to inform recommendations and secure new opportunities.
• Manage pricing, promotions, and trade investment to ensure ROI and budget compliance.
• Coordinate sell-in and activation of new products, innovation, and promotional programs across the account base.
• Partner with Category Management, Shopper Insights, and Marketing to deliver tailored customer solutions that enhance brand and category performance.
• Monitor sales performance, promotional execution, and merchandising compliance through standardized scorecards and performance tracking.
• Participate in customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows to strengthen relationships and drive business visibility.
• Provide timely reporting, analysis, and insights on account performance, opportunities, and competitive activity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

• 7+ years of progressive sales or account management experience in consumer packaged goods or related industries.
• Proven success in managing large, complex national or regional retail accounts with measurable sales and share growth, with an emphasis on Grocery/Dollar channels.
• Experience in developing and executing customer business plans and trade programs.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing pricing, promotions, and trade budgets.
• Proficiency with sales analytics tools, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.

Travel: This position requires up to 30-50% travel, including overnight stays, based on the geographic area and customer needs.

Preferred

• Experience in consumer goods, tobacco, or regulated industries.
• Familiarity with revenue growth management, Power BI, Nielsen, or relevant analytics platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of distributor incentive programs and performance scorecards.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to (or exceeding) 45 lbs
• Capability to navigate convenience stores, warehouses, and retail environments, including climbing ladders and working in tight or confined spaces
• Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods
