Role Description The Litigation Legal Assistant – Medical Malpractice (Hybrid) is a full-time role based in Livonia, MI, with the ability to work remotely part of the time. This position supports attorneys handling medical malpractice and related litigation matters through detailed legal and administrative assistance. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing, formatting, and managing pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents; organizing case files and maintaining accurate electronic and physical records; and coordinating document production and trial preparation materials. The role also involves managing attorney calendars, scheduling depositions, meetings, and court appearances, tracking deadlines, and communicating with courts, clients, experts, and vendors. The legal assistant will assist with filing documents electronically, monitoring case status, and supporting the litigation team to ensure cases move efficiently and comply with court rules and firm procedures. Qualifications Strong foundation in Law and Medical Malpractice litigation concepts, with the ability to understand pleadings, discovery, and court procedures. Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, revising, and formatting pleadings, correspondence, and discovery materials. Experience providing Legal Assistance, such as case file management, trial preparation support, and coordination with clients, experts, and courts. Skilled in Administrative Assistance and Calendaring, including scheduling, deadline tracking, and managing multiple attorneys' calendars. Previous experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in litigation, preferably in medical malpractice or health care defense. High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail, with strong time management and follow-up skills. Proficiency with litigation support software, document management systems, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel).
