Registered Nurse - PACU - Full Time 10 Hour Day Shift (Union)

Job Summary As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the team to provide safety, recovery, and comfort for patients by implementing the nursing process and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Implement the nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, care and education planning, intervention, evaluation, and revision. Provide patient education and advocacy. Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards, and other applicable guidelines. Support the department manager and director in quality improvement and growth of unit services. Lead collaboration with co‑workers and other departments, and manage efficient services to achieve meaningful outcomes. Assist the charge nurse in planning delivery of patient care for the shift and contribute to overall unit planning and improvement. Precept and validate competency of new hires and new procedures; teach nursing students. Delegate tasks to RNs, LVNs, and CNAs as appropriate. Coordinate the assigned team and communicate expectations, interventions, and reports. Report improvement opportunities, unusual events, and information through the chain of command. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Graduation from a Registered Nurse Program. A BSN is desired; if not, the candidate must obtain it within 5 years. Minimum 1 year of acute‑care clinical experience. Experience with orthopaedic and stroke patient populations is preferred. Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses: minimum 1 year in ICU, stepdown, or ER and 1+ year in IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab. Med/Surg Nurses on the 6th Floor: minimum 2 years with orthopaedic and medical‑surgical nursing; certification in medical‑surgical, orthopaedic, or a related specialty preferred. Licenses & Certifications California Registered Nurse License (active). Specialty or management certification desirable. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required; additional certifications vary by unit: PALS, AB508, NIHSS, NRP, ENPC, etc. All certifications must be active and obtained within the specified timeframes after hire.
