Job Overview - Medical Assistant
Compensation: $23/hour
Location: Southampton, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Medical Assistant in Southampton, NY for our client. In this outpatient role, you will support patient care, prepare patients for examinations, assist providers, maintain accurate medical records, and coordinate daily clinical and administrative tasks. The Medical Assistant will use NextGen or similar EMR systems to help ensure efficient operations and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities as the Medical Assistant:

• Patient Intake: Greet patients, verify information, and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
• Clinical Support: Assist healthcare providers during patient visits and prepare exam rooms and equipment.
• Medical Documentation: Record patient histories, treatments, and test results accurately within the EMR system.
• Lab & Specimen Handling: Collect and process laboratory specimens while following safety and sanitation protocols.
• Patient Education: Provide instructions on medications, treatments, and follow-up care.

Qualifications for the Medical Assistant:

• Education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required, or a Bachelor's degree in Biology or equivalent clinical training is preferred.
• Certification: CMA or RMA certification is preferred, or equivalent clinical certification or experience is accepted.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a clinical setting.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of clinical workflows, patient care procedures, and medical terminology is required.
• Technical Skills: Experience with EMR systems such as NextGen and proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong communication, organization, multitasking ability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
