First Independent Insurance Agency is seeking a Small Business Sales Representative to help expand our commercial insurance business throughout the Metro Detroit area. We're looking for someone with a proven background in outbound sales, lead generation, and business development. Insurance experience is not required —if you're a strong salesperson who knows how to build relationships and create opportunities, we'll teach you the insurance industry.

What You'll Do
As a Small Business Sale Representative, your primary focus will be generating new business opportunities and building relationships with local businesses.

Responsibilities

• Prospect new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, email outreach, and other creative lead-generation strategies.
• Identify and connect with business owners and decision-makers.
• Schedule appointments for commercial insurance consultations.
• Build long-term relationships with prospective clients and referral partners.
• Learn clients' business operations and identify opportunities to provide insurance solutions.
• Maintain an organized sales pipeline and consistently follow up with prospects.
• Collaborate with agency leadership to develop strategies for business growth.
• Utilize CRM systems to track activity, appointments, and sales opportunities.
• Meet and exceed individual sales and prospecting goals.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in business-to-business (B2B) sales , outside sales, business development, or lead generation.
• Proven success with outbound prospecting and developing new business.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Competitive, self-motivated, and driven to achieve goals.
• Comfortable making cold calls and initiating conversations with business owners.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple prospects simultaneously.
• Proficient with computers and CRM software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience selling to businesses or commercial clients.
• Insurance experience is a plus but not required .
• Experience in industries such as payroll, staffing, office equipment, telecommunications, banking, merchant services, SaaS, or other consultative B2B sales is highly valued.
