Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic (2nd shift)

Location: South Holland, IL

Hire Type: Direct Hire, Onsite

Target Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00/hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (2:00PM - 12:00AM), plus some Saturday OT as needed

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining production facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role performs troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on production and support equipment, including HVAC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration systems, processing equipment, and packaging equipment. Strong mechanical and electrical skills are required, including experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, and PLCs.

• Electrical troubleshooting and repair
• Refrigeration systems
• General mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repair
• Ability to operate hand and power tools
• Ability to read equipment manuals, blueprints, and service documentation

Job Duties:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant machinery and production equipment using mechanical and electrical skills.
• Complete preventative maintenance requirements to minimize equipment downtime and ensure reliable operation.
• Diagnose needed repairs, identify required replacement parts, and complete repairs in a timely manner.
• Maintain and repair HVAC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration systems, processing equipment, and packaging equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, AC drive, and PLC-controlled systems.
• Provide mechanical maintenance support and guidance to production personnel.
• Share applicable mechanical concepts and maintenance knowledge with other maintenance personnel.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and other technical documentation to support equipment operation and repair.
• Communicate effectively with outside vendors and equipment manufacturers.
• Inform appropriate facility personnel and supervisors of equipment modifications, system malfunctions, and maintenance concerns.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following company procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain technical knowledge through training, educational workshops, and skill development.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Technical School graduate preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment strongly preferred.
• Strong general mechanical skills and knowledge related to troubleshooting and servicing equipment.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, metalworking, welding, machining, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, drafting, and blueprint reading.
• PLC experience strongly preferred, particularly Allen-Bradley programming.
