Some of what you'll be doing: You will provide customer service by providing standard operational information to current and prospective customers and the public. You will establish and maintain positive interactions with customers to address their concerns, answer their questions, and assist with their needs. You will also handle customer requests or issues and provide appropriate solutions within appropriate time limits to ensure high level of customer service. You will provide property security by patrolling through buildings, upland gated fence storage yards, and ensuring that all areas are locked and secured for facility and public safety. You will also provide parking enforcement and dock compliance ensuring proper policies and procedures. You will collaborate with other Harbor Operations Specialists, Contracted Security, Portfolio Manager, and Maintenance Personnel to meet customer needs. You will exchange information and provide daily updates to bring awareness to routine events, scheduled special events, and activities which may impact the facility operations. You will also provide updates and revised post orders to on-coming duty Harbor Specialist at shift turnover. You will perform roving security patrols by driving between multiple maritime customer locations across port and waterfront properties. You must be able to drive to respond quickly to emergencies and incidents. You will respond to alarms, service requests, and security issues using a vehicle to ensure safety and operational efficiency. You will also serve as a First Responder by operating a skiff during emergencies, deploying oil boom equipment, and executing spill containment and reporting procedures in compliance with safety and regulatory policies. Who you are: Experienced – You have one (1) year of experience in facilities, maintenance or security operations. Desired – We hope you have experience working in a maritime environment. Knowledgeable – You have knowledge of business functions, operations, maintenance, and information systems, along with familiarity in boat and marina operations and marina environmental regulations and guidelines. You also have general knowledge of desktop office applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Word. Customer-oriented – You possess proficient customer service skills, especially face to face interaction and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Independent Problem-solver – You have well-developed problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills to effectively manage through expected and unexpected change. You can also work independently with minimal supervision. What else you need to know : Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites. Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Sunday – Wednesday, 12:30 PM – 10:30 PM (40 hours per week). You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies. Work Environment – You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces. Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State. Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
