Technical Lead

Senior Software Engineer

Polaris is seeking a Senior Infor XA / IBM i Software Engineer to support and enhance business-critical applications within the Purchasing-to-Pay and Supply Chain domain. This role will focus on Infor XA / MAPICS functionality, custom IBM i applications, RPG/RPGLE/CL development, SQL, integrations, reporting, and production support. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical experience on IBM i along with functional knowledge of purchasing, procurement, receiving, inventory, supplier transactions, and invoice-related processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design & Architecture Support
• Infor XA / MAPICS functionality and customizations related to Purchasing-to-Pay, including purchasing, procurement, supplier transactions, receiving, inventory, invoice processing, and related supply chain workflows.
• Design, develop, test, and support custom applications and enhancements on the IBM i / iSeries platform using RPG, RPGLE, CL and SQL.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate current-state and future-state processes, and translate business needs into functional and technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain custom programs, interfaces, reports, batch jobs, and data extracts supporting Supply Chain and Purchasing-to-Pay processes.
• Analyze existing business processes, application logic, data flows, and integrations to recommend effective system solutions.
• Support implementation activities and ensure successful go-live through proper testing, validation, documentation, and business readiness.
• Purchasing-to-Pay and Supply Chain Support
• Provide application support for Purchasing-to-Pay processes within Infor XA / MAPICS and related custom IBM i applications.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis for system, process, data, or integration-related incidents.
• Assist business teams in understanding system behavior, data discrepancies, transaction issues, and process gaps.
• Query, analyze, validate, and communicate data findings across Purchasing, Supply Chain, Finance, and related business teams.
• Support system configuration, custom logic, data corrections, and technical analysis as needed.
• Team Leadership & Collaboration
• Work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and working software.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, peer reviews, and communities of practice.
• Foster a culture of learning, quality, and continuous improvement.
• System Maintenance & Operational Support
• Support, administer, and enhance existing applications and legacy systems.
• Improve logging, error handling, monitoring, and operational visibility.

Skill Requirements:

• Minimum Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience with Infor XA / MAPICS ERP applications, customizations, and related business processes.
• Strong hands-on development experience with RPG, RPGLE, CL, SQL, DB2 for i, and embedded SQL.
• Experience supporting Purchasing-to-Pay, procurement, purchasing, receiving, inventory, supplier, or invoice-related processes.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues, analyzing data, and performing root-cause analysis.
• Experience developing or supporting custom IBM i programs, reports, batch jobs, data extracts, or interfaces.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Other Requirements Nice to Have:
• Experience with EDI, SFTP, middleware, file-based interfaces, batch integrations, or custom IBM i interface patterns.
• Experience in SOX-controlled environments.
• Experience with source control, code reviews, deployment controls, documentation, and modern development practices.
