Accounting Clerk


Location: Salem, OR
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour


Schedule: M-F 7:00am - 3:30pm


Position Summary


We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support daily accounting operations, accounts receivable, invoicing, reporting, and inventory-related functions. This role is responsible for processing invoices and customer payments, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process daily customer invoices and sales orders
• Print and email invoices while monitoring accounting email inboxes
• Enter sales orders, including intercompany and employee transactions
• Prepare weekly sales and accounts receivable reports
• Generate monthly commission reports
• Complete monthly and quarterly sales tax reporting
• Process customer credits, credit memos, and payments
• Investigate payment discrepancies and resolve account variances
• Perform weekly bank reconciliations
• Review aged accounts receivable reports and follow up on outstanding balances
• Reconcile company credit card statements
• Prepare distributor rebate reports
• Assist with inventory documentation and receiving activities
• Prepare expense reports and budget support documentation
• Maintain accurate accounting, customer, sales, and inventory records
• Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding account and order issues
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• One year or more of bookkeeping, accounting, clerical, or general office experience preferred
• Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
• Equivalent accounting or bookkeeping experience will be considered
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or inventory environments is a plus.

Required Skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong keyboarding and 10-key data entry skills
• Basic knowledge of accounting and accounts receivable principles
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Experience with Brightpearl or similar ERP/accounting software is preferred.
