Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Earthwork Estimator to join our growing construction team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in earthwork estimating, AGTEK takeoffs, geotechnical report analysis, and civil site development.

This position plays a key role in pre-construction planning by preparing accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals. The successful candidate will also work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, field operations, and clients to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

A strong network of General Contractors in Texas is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed earthwork quantity takeoffs using AGTEK and related estimating software.

Analyze geotechnical reports, site plans, grading plans, civil drawings, specifications, and proposed site conditions.

Generate accurate cost estimates for site development, excavation, grading, demolition, and civil sitework for private and federal projects.

Utilize CRM software to track leads, manage client communications, and follow up on bids.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to clarify scope and obtain pricing.

Attend and participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits.

Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors as needed to obtain competitive pricing.

Identify project risks, scope gaps, value-engineering opportunities, and alternative construction methods.

Prepare and submit professional bid proposals accurately and within established deadlines.

Communicate estimate and bid information to field operations during pre-construction meetings, including project scope and critical means and methods of construction.

Analyze market competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, and public and private entities to maintain competitive pricing.

Collaborate with upper management to develop and refine pricing strategies.

Develop and maintain strong business relationships to increase bid opportunities throughout the regional market.

Maintain a strong technical understanding of excavation, grading, earthwork, and civil sitework.

Support efforts to improve estimating accuracy, bid competitiveness, and project profitability.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience as an Earthwork Estimator in civil construction, site development, or a related field.

Proficiency with AGTEK takeoff software - Required.

Strong understanding of geotechnical reports and their impact on earthwork and site planning.

At least 2 years of construction estimating experience.

Experience using CRM software, such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms.

Ability to read and interpret site plans, grading plans, civil drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.

Strong understanding of excavation, grading, earthwork, and civil construction processes.

Excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with project and field teams.

Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or a related discipline.

Experience with construction scheduling software or project management tools.

Existing relationships with General Contractors in Texas.

Experience estimating private and federal construction projects.
