\n \nThree deposition notices landed on your desk this morning, and not one of them has your name next to the words "taking attorney". You prepped the outline, you briefed the partner, and you'll sit beside them taking notes.
\n \nThat arrangement makes sense for about a year. After that it quietly stops being training and starts being a habit.
\n \nI'm Ryan Jaiswal from Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a Litigation Attorney for an insurance defense firm in Tampa that hands auto defense lawyers the questioning, not the notepad.
\n \nThe seat
\n \n• Your own docket of auto liability files, from the first claim notice to resolution
\n• Taking and defending depositions: plaintiffs, treating physicians, accident reconstruction experts, corporate representatives
\n• Arguing your own motions and hearings
\n• Mediations where you set the strategy and speak for the client
\n• Trial work, with real responsibility in the courtroom rather than a seat at the back
\n• Direct, regular contact with carrier adjusters and insureds
\n \nAuto defense is a brilliant training ground precisely because the files move. Liability gets argued, damages get picked apart, experts disagree, and cases actually reach a courtroom. A lawyer who runs thirty of these files properly learns more about trial preparation in two years than many litigators learn in five. The trick is being at a firm that lets you run them.
\n \nWhat you bring
\n \n• 2+ years of litigation experience, ideally on the defense side
\n• Florida Bar admission
\n• A preference for doing the work over watching it
\n• Comfort managing a busy caseload without losing sight of the detail
\n \nThe practical bit
\n \n• Hybrid working, based out of Tampa
\n• 1,950 billable hours a year
\n• Salary $125,000 to $200,000. The range is wide on purpose: it has room for a mid level associate and for someone already working at counsel level
\n• Partners who are around and reachable, so questions get answered the same day
