Position: Facilities Custodian

Pay Rate: $17.50/hour

Location: Ceres, CA

Schedule: 3 agreed-upon 8-hour days per week (24 hours weekly)

Employment Type: Part-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and hardworking Facilities Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning, sanitation, general housekeeping, and basic facility maintenance throughout production areas, warehouses, offices, restrooms, and common spaces.

The ideal candidate has previous custodial or janitorial experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding cleaning tasks. This role requires a commitment to workplace safety, proper cleaning procedures, and maintaining a professional environment for employees and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly manufacturing facility, including production floors, warehouses, offices, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, and clean shop floors, warehouse areas, walkways, and other designated facility spaces.
• Operate floor-cleaning equipment and other janitorial tools as needed.
• Remove dirt, dust, debris, oil, spills, and other materials from floors and work areas.
• Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the facility and dispose of materials in designated areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and fixtures.
• Restock restroom supplies, including paper products, soap, and other necessary materials.
• Clean breakrooms, lunch areas, offices, conference rooms, and employee common areas.
• Dust and wipe down work surfaces, shelving, equipment exteriors, doors, windows, and other facility surfaces.
• Maintain entrances, sidewalks, parking areas, loading areas, and exterior grounds as needed.
• Keep aisles, emergency exits, electrical panels, fire extinguishers, and safety equipment areas clear and accessible.
• Organize and maintain janitorial supplies, cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify management when additional materials are needed.
• Follow proper procedures for handling, labeling, storing, and using cleaning chemicals.
• Respond promptly to spills, housekeeping concerns, and potential safety hazards.
• Perform minor facility maintenance within skill level, including replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, and making basic adjustments.
• Assist with moving furniture, supplies, materials, and equipment as needed.
• Support production and warehouse personnel with general housekeeping and cleanup projects.
• Perform periodic deep cleaning of floors, walls, storage areas, and equipment surroundings.
• Inspect and maintain janitorial equipment to ensure it remains clean and serviceable.
• Follow established company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA-related housekeeping practices.
• Assist with special facility projects and additional custodial responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial, custodial, or general facility cleaning experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment is a plus.
• Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, restroom sanitation, and general housekeeping.
• Familiarity with operating basic janitorial tools and floor-cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning chemical handling, storage, labeling, and safety procedures preferred.
• Basic facility maintenance skills, including replacing light bulbs and performing minor repairs, are a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Ability to identify housekeeping concerns, spills, and potential safety hazards.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Dependable with reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned cleaning responsibilities efficiently.
• Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate with production, warehouse, and facility personnel.
• Willingness to follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work three agreed-upon 8-hour shifts per week.
