We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee and enhance the safety protocols for our fleet operations, ensuring a safe work environment and compliance with all safety regulations.

Job Description: As the Safety Manager at CH Management, you will be responsible for managing and implementing safety programs specifically for our fleet of drivers, plant personnel and office administrators. This role requires a deep understanding of DOT/FMSCA and OSHA regulations, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to driver safety and risk management. This role does require travel, both locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Regulatory Compliance: Manage DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA compliance, including driver qualification files, MVR checks, drug/alcohol testing, and Hours of Service (HOS) monitoring.
• Training & Education: Create and deliver safety training programs, including onboarding, defensive driving techniques, and emergency response procedures.
• Incident Management: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes, implementing corrective actions, and managing claims.
• Performance Monitoring: Utilize telematics, dashcams, and fleet management software to monitor driver behavior, coaching drivers on improvements.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records for audits, including DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) and safety performance metrics.
• Safety Culture & Policies: Develop and enforce company safety policies, conduct audits, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization. 

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of Regulations: In-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for training, coaching, and dealing with stakeholders.
• Data Analysis: Ability to analyze safety data, accident trends, and ELD metrics to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize recordables.
• Safety Management Certification: Candidates possessing one of the following accredited certifications are preferred: Certified Safety Manager (CSM) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
• OSHA Certification: OSHA 30

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Occupational Safety, Transportation Management, or a related field is preferred (relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in safety management, particularly in the transportation, fleet management or site construction industry.  Previous experience with Ready Mix Concrete, Power Generation, HVAC rentals or building materials is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards specific to commercial vehicle operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop effective safety solutions.
• Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and travel to different job sites as needed.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as needed.
