The Office of State Veterinarian is looking for an Investigator I in our Investigator Branch. Responsibilities Performs Professional Level Work performing Investigations involving the search, surveillanceand apprehension and arrest of persons suspected of violating state and federal lawsincluding, but not limited to, Agriculture crimes and other illegal activities. Enforcescompliance with KRS and KAR Serves as emergency point of contact for the Office of State Veterinarian for foreign animaldisease response and requests from the Emergency Operation Center. Leads Incident Command Teamas the Incident Commander for any emergency responses. Enforces departmental rules, regulations and policies and makes recommendations in thedevelopment or revisions of those policies. Compiles reports and assists with the review of reports and records. Represents the departmentin court proceedings related to the work of the Investigative Branch. Interviews witnesses anddefendants. Secures and serves search warrants, subpoenas and summons. Assists with compliance at State Fair, North American International Livestock Expo and otheragricultural events. Attends agency meetings and trainings. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years experience in the field of investigative law enforcement or a related field of investigation. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Special Requirements (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Employees in this classification are subject to the provisions of KRS Chapter 15 and 503 KAR 1:140 relating to peace officer certification as administered by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.
