Make a real difference in the lives of students by applying your expertise as an educational Sign Language Interpreter! Two dynamic contract roles are now available working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, supporting their engagement and full participation in school environments. Both full-time and part-time assignments are offered in the Grayslake, IL area at well-respected educational centers.
Key Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting.
- Must hold one of the following credentials, all requiring Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- EIPA score of 3.0-3.4 with ISBE Interim Approval
- BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials
- Ability to promote positive communication between students, staff, and peers.
- Flexibility to work as part of a collaborative educational team.
Position Details:
Position 1:
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm at a specialized educational center in Vernon Hills
- Assignment from ASAP through May 28, 2027
Position 2:
- Morning schedule, Monday–Friday, 8am–12pm at a local high school in Grayslake
- Assignment from ASAP through May 20, 2027
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign language interpretation in academic and social settings
- Facilitate classroom participation and help foster student independence
- Support individualized needs for students as directed by educational team
