Desktop Support Specialist

Role Overview Desktop Support Specialist – help desk and on‑call support for one office, assisting other Cornerstone offices as needed. The role provides first‑line technical assistance to end‑users on a variety of IT issues, tracks tickets from inception to resolution, and performs hardware/software maintenance and configuration. Shift: Monday‑Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM ET. Workplace located in New York; on‑site presence required. What You’ll Do Provide excellent local and firm‑wide support to end‑users during daily mailbox shift Track problems from beginning through resolution for tickets received during shift or assigned to you Promptly adopt all documented procedures and workflows, delivering timely, accurate solutions Offer service‑oriented support and resolve problems to end‑user satisfaction Set up meetings, including video conferences, and provide technical support during those sessions Coordinate with teammates and administrative teams to resolve complex issues Install, add, move, and change PCs, monitors, printers, and related peripherals Provide on‑call support for weekends in rotation Configure and deploy IT equipment, manage inventory tracking, and maintain software and computer peripherals Perform full disk encryption for laptops and desktops, archive restores, RSA setups, and troubleshooting Coordinate hardware repair and assist with password resets and account lockouts What You’ll Need to Be Successful 3+ years of IT experience in a help desk capacity; professional services firm experience preferred Excellent hardware troubleshooting and diagnosis skills Expertise in supporting Windows 7 in a large‑scale enterprise Windows Active Directory environment Proficient knowledge of CLI, VPN, wireless technologies, LAN/WAN networking technologies Ability to thoroughly follow SOPs, checklists, and other instructions Working knowledge of Windows10, Office 2010/2016, conference room equipment, and support CompTIA A+ certification preferred; MTA‑Microsoft Technology Associate (current Windows version) preferred; Dell hardware certification a plus High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Benefits & Compensation Base salary range in New York: $61,200 – $78,500, with individual base compensation tailored to experience and location. Eligible for an annual performance bonus with a target of 5%.
