POSITION PURPOSE

The Store Team Leader will effectively direct and supervise all activities of the retail grocery store and its personnel to achieve sales, profits and customer service goals established for the store.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Serving as the leader of his/her store team, and as such an excellent role model, coach, performance evaluator and trainer. Creating a store environment members want to work in and customers want to shop in. Engaging with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling (when appropriate) and always giving a genuine thank you. Observing and enforcing all store rules and company policies. Overseeing the selection and training of all new members. Executing, communicating and supporting all merchandising programs. Providing excellent knowledge of all products merchandised in the store. Creating store and department budgets and tracking financial reports (e.g. profit and loss, sales and expenses). Overseeing the ordering of all products and supplies, the auditing of all products received, ensuring proper shelf stock levels for our customers and minimum levels of product shrink. Ensuring compliance with all health department and weights and measures department guidelines and requirements. Ensuring the proper merchandising of all departments, meets all department and company guidelines. Achieving store and department sales and profits goals. Controlling store labor, inventory, product out of stocks and shrink. Ensuring all safety equipment is maintained and all store members act in accordance with company safety guidelines. Operating a cash register. Performs other duties as needed or assigned by management.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

With both customers and team members, remain helpful, tactful and courteous. Work quickly and efficiently, sometimes with little direction, to accomplish assigned duties. Add, subtract, divide, multiply and perform other basic business math calculations. Read UPC codes, product labels, shelf signage, business forms, and posted company policies/procedures. Be knowledgeable of a wide variety general department products (grocery, frozen food, HBC, non-foods, liquor, DSD and dairy), including their locations in the store. Be dexterous enough with hands and fingers so as to be able to fill and rotate products quickly and use necessary equipment, including box cutters. Communicate openly and professionally through appropriate body language, facial expressions and speech, also communicating in writing when necessary. Listen to and understand verbal and non-verbal communication of customers and fellow members.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: Stand for long periods of time, bend and twist, and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise and supplies weighing 30 – 50lbs. Lift 50 and maneuver up to 100 lbs. while breaking down large and very heavy pallet loads of produce cases, boxes and bags. Operate manual and electric pallet jacks. Must be at least 18 years old.
