Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Description: This role involves providing nursing care in a fast-paced environment. The patient care unit consists of patients primarily composed of adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and those requiring continuous EEG monitoring. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications. Each shift includes a charge nurse who also takes on patient assignments. Patient care techs or nursing aides are available on the unit with a typical ratio of 1:10 or 2:20. Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday work is required every third. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab may be necessary as per operational needs. The onboarding process includes unit-specific orientation for the first week, followed by 1-2 days of training on the floor. Attributes that will help a nurse be successful in this unit include a positive attitude, good communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability. Please note that artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Failure to comply with this policy may lead to termination. A pass/fail exam is required during orientation, with a minimum score of 90% to pass. RTO requests should be made upfront, as additional time off will not be approved after submission. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using the EPIC system. This position does not require a BSN. The care setting is acute, and the facility operates at a trauma level of 2.
