About the Position

Job Title: Stepdown Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: CVU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of experience with this patient population Description: Unit provides intermediate care and supports various cardiac programs. Common diagnoses include cardiovascular issues and vascular-related conditions. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips. Common titratable medications include Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, and Nicardipine. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift, who rarely takes an assignment. Patient care techs assist on the unit with a ratio of 1:18. Hospitalist and Intensivist are in-house 24/7. Respiratory Therapy is available in the unit 24/7. Registered Nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled by management with no self-scheduling. Every other weekend is required. Floating to similar and lower levels of acuity is necessary. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs. Orientation is tailored to individual needs and experience. Cancellation policy allows for a limited number of shift cancellations. Charting is done using the EPIC system. Trauma level is classified as Level 1. Care setting is acute. This role focuses on nursing within a Hospital environment.
