Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually With a mission to enrich and inspire our community through exceptional live performances, Vivo Performing Arts (formerly Celebrity Series) has become a mainstay of Boston’s cultural life by bringing a widening spectrum of performers to the city’s major concert halls. Vivo Performing Arts presents over 70 subscription series performances in 10 different venues and more than 150 community engagement activities annually. Vivo Performing Arts’ audiences experience the world’s great orchestras, chamber ensembles, and soloists, as well as leading artists in contemporary dance, jazz, global and folk music, and spoken word. Alongside the subscription series performances, Vivo Performing Arts’ community engagement programs introduce the joy of live performance and connect with a dynamic network of hundreds of community collaborators, reaching thousands of individuals annually. SUMMARY OF POSITION

Concert producers on the Performance Operations team manage performance-related details for Vivo Performing Arts at a variety of venues across Boston and Cambridge. Concert producers are a primary contact for the organization with venue staff, artists and their representation, and area vendors. Performance Operations staff create a performance experience for audiences and artists on behalf of Vivo Performing Arts consistent with organizational values and goals. Title, reporting structure, and supervisory responsibilities will be determined for the position based on the candidate’s previous experience, educational background, and the existing talent pool.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly manages technical and logistical details for a select portfolio of Vivo Performing Arts presentations and occasional special projects Serves as liaison between venue management and artist representation via thoughtful and proactive communication to facilitate all performance-related requests, including equipment, rehearsal, travel, backstage, and hospitality needs Supervises load-in/out, work calls, rehearsals, and manages stage crew at performance venues Uses in-house database, Artifax Event Online, to create production schedules and itineraries Maintains a comfortable and safe environment for artists and participants in related events Manages relationships and logistics pertaining to recordings, CD sales, and signings Monitors ticketing needs for artists, agents, and department Hires, supervises, and is directly responsible for assigned contract-based production managers and technical support staff Supports community initiatives and public performance projects (free, large-scale public events), including Let’s Dance Boston in September 2026 Works with Community Engagement staff to coordinate planning, execution, and reporting for occasional local community work of touring artists; supports Neighborhood Arts concert operations when additional staffing is needed Maintains regular contact with colleagues and other department members to support cross-departmental projects that have artist and performance implications, including, but not limited to: program book copy and marketing emails, special events, educational and audience engagement initiatives, advancement initiatives, and staff meetings Maintains fiscal oversight of related initiatives within board-approved budget Manages individual performance budgets and expense reports with a focus on proactive, creative solutions while maintaining quality Manages financial reconciliation of related performances, including but not limited to invoice payments, credit card reconciliation, and reimbursements Serves as primary contact on assigned independent contractor contracts Negotiates contracts and rates with hotels and other vendors

QUALIFICATIONS

5-7 years of professional experience in event operations, including working knowledge of theatrical and concert hall elements Demonstrated previous experience supervising performance-related theatrical and concert personnel (stage and house crews, outside contractors, FOH staff, etc.) Proficiency in performance rider interpretation, including the negotiation of tour requirements to fit budget constraints and creative problem solving Strong knowledge of performing arts required; experience in classical music, contemporary music, jazz, dance, and/or public art Knowledge of IATSE contracts and experience working in union theatrical environments a plus Detail-oriented self-starter who can handle multiple projects at a time and excel in fast-paced environment. Follow-through is essential to success in this position Proven ability to achieve results when working collaboratively with a wide variety of people and ideas Ability to thoughtfully analyze situations and persevere despite unfamiliar territory Ability to maintain diplomacy and remain poised, tactful, and supportive in stressful situations Ability to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends required.
