Business System Analyst

Business Systems Analyst – Overland Park, Kansas $75-90k; on-site Contract-to-Hire The Business Systems Analyst serves as the connective liason between business stakeholders and the software engineering team. This role translates business needs into clear technical requirements, supports system design and testing, and ensures technology solutions align with operational goals. Strong technical writing, structured documentation, and hands‑on exposure to information technology environments are essential. Key Responsibilities Requirements & Technical Documentation Requirements Gathering — Conduct interviews, workshops, and workflow analysis to understand business needs and convert them into actionable specifications. Technical Writing — Produce high‑quality documentation including BRDs, functional specs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and system workflows. Process Modeling — Create diagrams, flowcharts, and structured documentation that engineers can use directly in development. Software Engineering Collaboration Agile Collaboration — Work daily with software engineers to clarify requirements, refine user stories, and support sprint planning. Participate in backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and technical discussions to ensure alignment between business needs and engineering output. Translate complex technical concepts into business‑friendly language and vice versa. Systems Analysis & IT Exposure Systems Analysis — Evaluate existing systems, identify gaps, and recommend improvements based on technical feasibility. Work closely with IT teams on integrations, data flows, APIs, and system dependencies. Assist with configuration, testing, and validation of new features or system enhancements. Testing & Quality Assurance User Acceptance Testing — Develop test plans, test cases, and scripts; coordinate UAT with business users. Validate system behavior, troubleshoot issues, and ensure deliverables meet documented requirements. Stakeholder Communication Facilitate communication between business units, engineering, and IT leadership. Present findings, project updates, and solution recommendations in clear, structured formats. Build strong relationships across departments to ensure smooth project execution. Required Qualifications 2–5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst , Technical Analyst, or similar role. Strong technical writing skills with proven experience producing structured documentation. Hands‑on exposure to information technology , software development, or systems administration. Experience working closely with software engineers in Agile or hybrid environments. Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and technical concepts into business language. Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Must work onsite in Overland Park, Kansas . Preferred Qualifications Experience with APIs, integrations, or data mapping. Background in software QA or UAT coordination. Familiarity with SQL, system logs, or basic debugging.
