2026-2027 EC Teacher (autism, general curriculum) Cabarrus County School District Pitts School Road Elementary – Concord, North Carolina Starting Date: Aug 5, 2026 Job Description Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching services or specific learning program, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student’s ability, using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal. Essential Functions Develop lesson plans and instructional materials providing effective teaching strategies. Maintain effective classroom management, recognize and address learning and behavior issues. Understand developmental appropriateness of materials and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Evaluate accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods; provide progress and interim reports. Communicate with parents in a timely manner and maintain positive constructive communication with students, staff, parents, and community. Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities taking necessary precautions. Uphold and enforce board policy, district goals, administrative procedures and school rules and regulations; adhere to health and safety policies. Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time. Keep current subject matter knowledge and learning theory; attend workshops, seminars and conferences, and staff, department, curricular development and committee meetings as required. Respect confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics and state and federal laws. Share responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in areas of the school. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – Standards Demonstrate leadership in the classroom and school by working collaboratively with all personnel. Establish a respectful environment for a diverse population of students, providing inclusive and flexible climate. Know the content taught, align instruction with North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and make instruction relevant to students. Facilitate learning for students by planning instruction, using varied instructional methods, integrating technology, encouraging critical thinking and teamwork. Reflect on practice by analyzing student learning, participating in professional development, and adapting to change. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree from an approved education program in the subject area. Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards. Physical Requirements Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Regular requirements of speaking, hearing, using hands, repetitive motions, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching, pushing or pulling, and lifting. Standard vision requirements. Vocal communication required for expressing ideas. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions occasionally. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location.
