Job Description Job Title : Assistant Principal Reports To : Campus Principal Pay Grade : AP01 ES/AP02 MS/AP03 HS Workdays : 207 Minimum Salary : AP01 $64,170 / $310 daily AP02 $68,310 / $330 daily AP03 $72,450 / $350 daily Mid-Point Salary : AP01 $78,660 / $380 daily AP02 $83,835 / $405 daily AP03 $85,905 / $415 daily Type Of Assignment : Exempt Contract Status : Chapter 21 Funding : This position is locally funded. Position Summary : Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services. Minimum Requirements : Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Texas Mid-Management, Supervisor, or Principal Certification. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a classroom teacher. Current Certification in or ability to obtain: Advanced Education Leadership (AEL), Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) and T-TESS appraiser certification. Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate. Preferred Qualifications : Three (3) years’ campus level administrative experience or curriculum/instruction leadership. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Knowledge of campus operations. Ability to manage budget and personnel. Ability to implement policy and procedures. Ability to interpret data. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to think critically, act independently, and resolve conflicts constructively with all stakeholders. Ability to assess instructional programs and teacher performance using data-driven analysis to inform improvements and drive student achievement. Proficient in managing campus budgets and personnel, ensuring alignment of resources with instructional goals. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities : Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate. Participate in program evaluation measures and make suggestions for improvement where needed. Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom management. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in decision-making process. Take a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school’s mission. Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members. Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. Oversee campus operations in principal’s absence. Take a leadership role in planning and scheduling of daily school activities including the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules. Oversee reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with staff to identify and address issues. Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs. Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment and monitor and maintain inventory in accordance with district procedures. Coordinate operational support services such as transportation, custodial, and cafeteria to best meet campus needs. Ensure compliance with all applicable state, district, and campus policies, including UIL regulations, attendance procedures, and confidentiality standards. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences as needed for designated teacher appraisal system. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff. Articulate the school’s mission to community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Foster and maintain a positive, respectful, and collaborative tone in all communications with internal and external stakeholders. Compile, maintain, and organize reports, records, and other required documentation. Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, board policies, and district regulations. Attend Board, administrative, staff, and public meetings as required. Follow established campus and district routines to ensure compliance and consistency in operations. Maintain confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities : Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and others as assigned. Working Conditions : Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Frequent walking, standing; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse. Occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior.
