Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support a growing FinTech services portfolio. This role will manage complex technical programs and multiple initiatives across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), partnering closely with engineering, product, architecture, design, customer success, legal, security, and other cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will be able to zoom in and out between individual projects, programs, and portfolio-level objectives , independently structure ambiguous problems, drive execution, identify and escalate risks, and communicate effectively with senior leaders, including Directors, VPs, engineering leaders, product leaders, and architects.

The role will initially support approximately 2-3 projects , with a strong focus on execution, work-back planning, dependency management, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities

1. Lead planning, execution, and closure of complex technical programs across the SDLC.
2. Manage multiple projects and initiatives within a broader program or portfolio.
3. Translate business outcomes, customer objectives, and revenue goals into structured execution plans.
4. Develop and maintain detailed work-back plans , milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and timelines.
5. Identify, track, mitigate, and escalate program risks and issues in a timely manner.
6. Manage dependencies across multiple teams, business units, and organizational groups.
7. Work independently in ambiguous environments and establish structure where requirements are initially unclear.
8. Partner with engineering, product, architecture, design, customer success, legal, security, and other cross-functional teams to drive delivery.
9. Understand technical architecture at a high level and effectively collaborate with architects and technical leads.
10. Understand end-to-end workflows and how technical solutions translate into customer and business outcomes.
11. Ensure required security, compliance, and other cross-functional reviews are incorporated into program plans.
12. Facilitate technical workshops and connect stakeholders to establish objectives, requirements, and execution strategies.
13. Prepare concise weekly status reports and leadership dashboards highlighting current risks, upcoming risks, milestones, and leadership asks.
14. Communicate program status and risks clearly to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
15. Present program updates and recommendations to Directors, VPs, architects, and other senior audiences as needed.
16. Establish strong relationships with stakeholders and quickly build rapport to unblock issues.
17. Drive execution of programs that may involve approximately 50-70 engineers across multiple Scrum teams , along with engineering and product leadership.
18. Support projects involving new features, enhancements to existing capabilities, and customer migrations from legacy platforms to new product offerings.
19. Continuously learn and adopt program-management tools and processes, including Dragon Boat as the program source of truth.

Technical Requirements

1. Strong technical program management experience within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) .
2. Ability to understand and discuss technical architecture at a block/end-to-end level.
3. Working knowledge of APIs, microservices, and application workflows .
4. Familiarity with concepts such as Kafka and EventBridge is beneficial.
5. Ability to understand architectural designs and ask informed questions without being responsible for creating the technical design.
6. Strong understanding of dependencies across engineering, security, legal, compliance, product, and other teams.
7. Experience with Jira , particularly Jira Cloud, including dashboard creation and reporting.
8. Ability to quickly learn and become hands-on with new tools such as Dragon Boat .
9. Familiarity with AI technologies and Agent/Agentic frameworks is a strong plus.

FinTech / Payments Experience

FinTech and payments experience is highly desirable and will help the candidate ramp up quickly.

2. Banking and financial services
3. Payment-related technical programs
4. Large-scale banking technology initiatives
5. Programs involving financial products, customer journeys, compliance, accounting, legal, or other financial-services functions

Candidates should understand the end-to-end customer journey and be able to connect the technical stack to customer experience and business outcomes rather than focusing solely on backend technology delivery.
Program Scale & Complexity

Experience managing large, complex technical programs is required. The target scale includes programs involving approximately:

1. 50-70 engineers
2. Multiple Scrum teams
3. Approximately 2 engineering leaders
4. Product leadership
5. Multiple cross-functional stakeholder groups

Experience managing even larger portfolios is beneficial.
Communication & Leadership

4. Comfortable working with Directors, VPs, architects, engineering leaders, and product leaders.
5. Able to clearly articulate risks, dependencies, decisions, blockers, and recommended actions.
6. Strong ability to connect the work being performed with broader business and customer objectives.
7. Comfortable working across geographically distributed teams using both synchronous and asynchronous communication.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
2. Strong experience as a Technical Program Manager managing complex SDLC programs.
3. Demonstrated experience driving large, challenging technical programs from planning through delivery.
4. Strong dependency management, risk management, execution, and stakeholder-management skills.
5. Experience working independently in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
6. FinTech, payments, or banking experience strongly preferred.
7. Experience with AI/Agentic technologies is a plus.

Work Environment

1. Mountain View, CA: Hybrid schedule with approximately 3 days onsite per week preferred.
2. Remote: California-based candidates may be considered.
3. Pacific Time availability is preferred.
4. Candidates must have flexibility to occasionally participate in meetings with teams in other U.S. time zones and India. These meetings may occur approximately one evening per week and are generally limited to about an hour.
5. Strong ability to collaborate with geographically distributed teams is essential.

Interview Process

1. Initial Screening: 30-45 minutes.
2. Technical/TPM Craft Interview: Approximately 60 minutes with the hiring managers and/or a panel.
3. Candidates may receive a generic program-management case/craft exercise in advance. The assessment focuses on how candidates structure a program, develop a work-back plan, identify stakeholders and dependencies, manage risks, and approach execution rather than requiring them to design the specific existing program.

• Own end-to-end program delivery across a defined portfolio (e.g., Payments, Bill Pay, Lending, Workforce Solutions), coordinating engineering, product, and design partners

• Drive planning cadences and attain commitments with confidence, risks, and trajectory against committed goals
