Location: Charlotte, NC – Monroe Road area

Schedule: Full-time, in-office

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team and provide accounting support for a variety of clients. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with strong fundamentals who is interested in continuing to develop their accounting skills and gaining additional exposure to tax.

CPA firm experience is preferred, but candidates with solid Staff Accountant experience in another industry will also be considered. Tax experience is a strong plus, but candidates who are interested in learning and developing their tax knowledge are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records
• Perform account reconciliations and assist with resolving discrepancies
• Support month-end close activities
• Provide accounting and bookkeeping support for clients
• Assist with general ledger and day-to-day accounting functions
• Support tax preparation and related tax activities as needed
• Assist with client accounting needs and maintain accurate financial records
• Learn and apply firm processes, accounting practices, and tax procedures

Qualifications

• Previous accounting experience required; approximately 2+ years preferred
• CPA firm experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Experience with QuickBooks is required ; QuickBooks Online experience is preferred
• Tax experience is a plus, particularly experience with individual, business, nonprofit, trust, or estate taxation
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Professional communication and client-service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required
• Willingness to learn and develop additional tax and accounting skills

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• Nonprofit accounting and tax
• Trust and estate taxation
• QuickBooks Online
• CCH Access Tax
• Tax Dome

Schedule

• Full-time, in-office position
• Typically 40–45 hours per week
• Flexible scheduling within normal business hours
