Interim Chief Financial Officer

Position Overview

Our client is a purpose-driven organization focused on strengthening families and building healthier communities, with a complex multi-entity structure and multiple funding streams.

We are seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide hands‑on financial leadership during a critical transition period. This role will lead overall financial strategy, accounting operations, and compliance while partnering closely with executive leadership. The CFO will oversee accounting team in a complex, highly regulated, multi‑entity environment with diverse funding streams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Provide immediate executive‑level financial leadership and direction
• Partner with senior leadership to guide financial strategy and organizational sustainability
• Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for leadership and board stakeholders

Financial Oversight & Operations

• Oversee all financial operations including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and cash flow
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Drive rigorous cost allocation methodologies across multiple entities and funding streams
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial processes in a regulated environment
• Oversee audits, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements
• Provide deep accounting expertise and leadership across the organization
• Coach and mentor the accounting team, strengthening capability, confidence, and accountability
• Establish structure, discipline, and clarity across accounting operations
• Ensure adherence to state regulations, funding requirements, and compliance standards

Team & Stakeholder Leadership

• Lead through influence—able to operate independently while bringing the team along
• Build trust and alignment across finance, accounting, and cross‑functional teams
• Provide clear communication to executive leadership and board stakeholders

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CFO, Interim CFO, or senior finance executive in complex organizations
• Deep accounting expertise with strong knowledge of GAAP
• Demonstrated success in highly regulated, multi‑entity environments with multiple funding streams
• Strong experience with cost allocation methodologies and compliance requirements
• Track record of building, mentoring, and leading high‑performing accounting teams
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• High level of judgment, wisdom, and executive presence
