Medical Surgical Oncology Charge RN

Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Charge RN, you will oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team. You will advocate for your fellow nurses, support them in reaching their full potential, and align your efforts with the department's operational goals and objectives. Accountability, confidence, and excellent communication skills are essential for this role, including the ability to conduct tough conversations regarding performance and unit operations. Human Resources Management Functions as a mentor and coach. Assists with preparation of unit schedules. Establishes daily work plans for the team of employees. Schedules staff for attendance at and completion of mandatory education. Maintains current staff certifications per regulatory requirements. Guides the peer interviewing process in the selection of unit staff. Provides input and feedback to the nurse manager regarding team performance management. Fiscal Management Assists in development and achievement of departmental budgets and goals. Assists with payroll activities such as monitoring timekeeping. Effectively manages material and supply usage. Leadership Assists in communicating a shared vision, mission, and values within the department. Facilitates ongoing problem solving that utilizes Department PI to achieve desired quality outcomes. Conducts on-the-job training and education on topics such as quality and patient satisfaction. Accountable for patient/physician satisfaction, leading process improvement efforts and measures. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. Maintains and supports an atmosphere that encourages high performance, teamwork, and continual improvement. Helps facilitate the flow of information to staff through numerous channels. Communicates clearly what is expected and addresses issues objectively. Maintains ongoing compliance with regulatory standards through patient, EOC, and physician rounding. Clinical Competence Maintains knowledge and competence in management and clinical practice areas. Demonstrates flexibility between management and clinical responsibilities. Participates in educational programs to enhance clinical and management experience. Serves as a clinical resource in the area of specialty. Role models clinical and professional excellence. Job Requirements Graduate of an RN nursing program, upon hire. Registered Nurse (NE) upon hire. Basic Life Support (CPR) upon hire.
