Lead EHV Transmission Line Engineer 2 - Grid

Responsibilities Lead the design of transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range. Serve as a subject matter specialist in 500kV and 765kV transmission lines. Mentor and train less experienced design team members. Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats. Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD. Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes. Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days in office, 2 days remote. Relocation package may be offered. Qualifications We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. Essential Skills And Experience BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program. 12 years of transmission design experience. 3 or more years of experience in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design. Familiarity with the electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines. Proficiency with PLS-CADD software. Experience must include preparation of scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, determination of design basis, the selection of equipment and materials, and the preparation and assembly of calculations and specifications. Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 765kV. Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI. Experience reviewing design drawings created by others. Valued Skills And Experience PE license. PMP certification. Construction experience. Familiarity with ArcGIS. Leaders in these roles often direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guide when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked. Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required. We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.
