The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy in Bland, VA, and shape the future of sustainable power technologies. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing both basic and advanced dry-type transformers that meet precise customer and industry specifications. This is a dynamic opportunity to apply state-of-the-art engineering methods, solve complex design challenges, and convert innovative concepts into high-performance products.

You'll actively collaborate with cross-functional teams-including product development, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and marketing-to create optimized solutions that support our growth in new and existing markets. In partnership with global colleagues, you'll help establish best-practice design standards and tools used across the organization.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Design dry-type transformers aligned with customer requirements and industry standards.
• Apply advanced engineering methods, calculations and design best practices.
• Collaborate with global and local teams to support product and process improvements.
• Develop optimized solutions that support market expansion.
• Document designs, calculations, and test data with accuracy and clarity.
• Support production, supply chain, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Learn and apply internally developed transformer design programs.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• A BS or MS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of dry-type transformer design experience.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools (CAD/AutoCAD, Visio, Adobe, etc.).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and travel up to 10%.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and a valid driver's license.
