Bus DriverSafely transport students to and from school and all school related events; comply with federal and state laws, and board of education rules and mandates that pertain to school bus driversThe below lists are not ranked in order of importanceEssential FunctionsEnsure safety of studentsTransport students safely and efficiently to and from school and school related eventsConduct oneself professionally as a representative of our school district while at school sponsored activities and field tripsFollow assigned bus routes and schedulesMaintain required records and informationReport any mechanical problems to the bus mechanic/Transportation SupervisorKeep assigned vehicle neat and cleanMaintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of changes in driving laws as they apply to transporting school childrenObey all traffic lawsObserve all mandatory safety regulations for school busesMaintain pupil control and report any violations to the proper authorities as prescribedNotify the transportation supervisor in case of mechanical failure or latenessDischarge students only at authorized stopsTransport only authorized studentsReport all accidents and complete required reportsEnforce applicable federal and state laws, and the Board of Education policiesComplete established pre-trip inspection of vehicleReport any hazardous conditions along the existing route to the transportation supervisorAttend bus driver meetings and be available in the event of emergency dismissalNotify the transportation supervisor in case of illness in order to permit time to secure a substitute driverShare in the responsibility for retrieving driving directions to and from school-sponsored events and/or approved field tripsConduct front door, rear door and combination front and rear door emergency evacuation drillsMake contacts with the public with tact and diplomacyMaintain respect at all times for confidential information (i.e. student identification information, driver's license with S and P endorsementsBCII reportHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find
