Laboratory Technician (1st Shift)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician I to support daily laboratory operations in a production-focused testing environment. This role will assist with receiving, preparing, testing, and documenting samples while following established laboratory procedures and safety guidelines. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career laboratory professional looking to gain hands-on experience in an analytical laboratory setting. Location: Houston, TX77029 Schedule: 1st Shift | 9:00am-6:00pm Pay: $20/hour Type: Contract to hire Pay Rate Low: 18 | Pay Rate High: 22 Responsibilities Receive, organize, prepare, and test laboratory samples following established procedures. Perform testing and analysis on samples including water and soil. Support laboratory workflows by preparing samples and maintaining accurate documentation. Record sample preparation steps and test results in LIMS or batch documentation. Follow SOPs, quality procedures, and laboratory safety guidelines. Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and supplies. Assist with inventory tracking and notify the team of supply needs. Communicate any sample issues, equipment concerns, or testing delays. Work independently while managing assigned testing responsibilities. Laboratory Techniques & Equipment Experience or coursework with analytical instrumentation such asICP/ICP-MS, GC/GC-MS, HPLC, Ion Chromatography (IC), and Mercury Analyzer. Familiarity with laboratory software, data systems, and electronic documentation platforms is a plus. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field preferred. Open to recent graduates with 0-2 years of laboratory experience. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Comfortable working with different sample types, including soil, water, chemicals, and other materials. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
