Fund Controller - VC/Growth Equity - NYC - Hybrid

A growing and unique Venture Capital/Growth-Equity firm that has a longstanding history investing in the start-up community, including several successful exits, is looking for a Fund Controller to join its finance team. This is an extremely unique opportunity as this company's business model is different than your traditional VC and financial services firm. This is a newly created senior-level opportunity for a technically strong fund accounting professional who can combine hands-on execution with high-level ownership of fund accounting, financial reporting, and investor operations. The role will work closely with senior finance leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure the accuracy, scalability, and effectiveness of the organization's fund operations. The ideal candidate will have deep experience across private fund structures and a strong understanding of partnership accounting, financial reporting, and investor operations. This person will have significant ownership over the fund accounting lifecycle while also helping modernize and improve the underlying processes and systems as the organization continues to grow. The company is based in New York City and operates on a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities Own fund accounting and financial reporting across a complex portfolio of investment vehicles, including maintaining books and records, reviewing NAV packages and capital statements, and overseeing key reconciliations Manage the preparation and review of fund financial statements, including coordination of external audits and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of required materials Lead capital call and distribution processes from calculation through execution, including investor notices, allocation methodologies, validation, and coordination with banking partners Serve as a senior point of contact for investor inquiries, responding to questions related to fund activity, reporting, statements, and other requests while ensuring a high level of accuracy and service Review tax, regulatory, and compliance reporting across the fund structure, coordinating with external advisors and ensuring deliverables are accurate and completed on schedule Provide technical accounting expertise related to fund structures, new investment vehicles, changes to existing entities, and other complex accounting matters Identify opportunities to improve fund accounting and investor operations through better processes, systems, automation, and use of emerging technology Partner with senior finance and other cross-functional leaders on the development and implementation of scalable processes as the organization expands into new investment strategies and markets Requirements CPA 6+ years of experience in fund accounting and/or fund administration within private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, or a similar investment environment Strong understanding of private fund accounting, partnership accounting, and complex investment structures Demonstrated experience with NAV calculations, capital accounts, capital calls, distributions, valuations, reconciliations, and fund financial statements Experience serving as a senior reviewer and technical accounting resource rather than solely operating in a preparer capacity Proven experience managing external fund administrators, auditors, tax providers, and other third-party service providers Strong understanding of investor reporting and the broader fund administration lifecycle Experience supporting new fund launches, entity structures, or other complex accounting initiatives is highly preferred Strong attention to detail and judgment, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues across multiple entities and stakeholders Comfortable working in a high-growth environment and taking ownership of both day-to-day execution and longer-term process improvements Demonstrated interest in leveraging technology and automation to improve the efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of finance and accounting processes The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is not reflective of the total compensation package, which may also include benefits, equity and other non-cash incentives. #J-18808-Ljbffr Advice Personnel
