Overview

Power and Light Alaska is looking to hire a dependable journeyman electrician for a full-time position in the Anchorage area.

We are looking for someone who can run small jobs independently and work for extended periods of time on larger job sites without supervision. This position is a good fit for someone who takes pride in clean work, communicates well, can think ahead, and knows when to ask questions before making major decisions.

Our company does a mix of residential, commercial, industrial, remodel, service, troubleshooting, lighting, controls, panels, conduit, and general electrical work. Most work is in the Anchorage area, but some projects may require travel to remote Alaska locations, bush communities, or other out-of-town job sites.

We need someone who can help keep jobs moving in the field while ownership handles estimating, scheduling, billing, and office responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

Running small jobs independently from start to finish
Working alone or with limited supervision on larger job sites
Troubleshooting electrical issues
Installing and modifying residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems
Reading basic plans, scopes of work, and job notes
Making material lists and communicating material needs
Supervising or assisting apprentices and wiremen when needed
Communicating professionally with customers, coworkers, and management
Keeping job sites clean, organized, and safe
Notifying the office of change-order items, job issues, or scope changes before proceeding
Occasional travel to remote Alaska locations or out-of-town job sites when needed

Ideal candidate:

Alaska journeyman electrician license
Able to work independently without constant direction
Comfortable with service work, remodels, and small commercial projects
Good troubleshooting skills
Clean workmanship
Reliable and honest
Valid driver’s license
Basic hand and power tools
Able to work well with apprentices and other electricians
Professional with customers
Comfortable with occasional travel for remote or out-of-town work

Pay:

$35–$45 per hour depending on experience, and ability.

This is a full-time position with room to grow for the right person. We are looking for someone who can be trusted in the field, represent the company well, and help us continue doing quality electrical work in Anchorage and the surrounding area.
