Academic General Pediatrician

Position Overview

We are seeking an outstanding full‑time pediatrician to join the Division of General Pediatrics at the University of Utah. The role is part of a collaborative team of generalists, developmental‑behavioral specialists, and quality improvement experts focused on high‑value, team‑based care for normally developing children and children with special health‑care needs. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, on either the Clinical or Tenure track, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in primary‑care ambulatory clinics, the University Hospital Well Baby and Intermediate Care Nurseries, and the University Pediatric Clinic and Sugar House Health Centers.
• Participate in evening and weekend shifts and call responsibilities as required by the Division.
• Lead and precept procedures such as circumcisions, ensuring competency among learners.
• Mentor and educate medical students, residents, and other health‑care trainees.
• Engage in research activities and quality‑improvement projects to advance pediatric practice.
• Advocate for interventions that support normally developing children and children with special health‑care needs, including participation in the Medically Unexplained Physical Symptoms program.

Qualifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Pediatrics.
• Proficiency in performing and precepting circumcisions.
• Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
• Experience in teaching and quality‑improvement projects preferred.
• Interest in caring for children with complex medical conditions and/or establishing the Medically Unexplained Physical Symptoms program preferred.
