Make a real impact in the lives of middle schoolers as a dedicated Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment spanning from August 17, 2026, through June 4, 2027. This rewarding role, situated in a supportive educational community near Bolingbrook and Midlothian, IL, focuses on working with a small 8th-grade caseload — currently ten students — offering the opportunity for meaningful, individualized instruction.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education Teacher licensure (SPED IL License required)
- Previous experience with students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) or Other Health Impairments (OHI) such as ADHD is highly valued
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to adapt lessons across resource and self-contained settings
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in literacy, math, and social studies to 8th grade students, including some math-only support
- Collaborate with general education staff for science instruction as students join peers in 7th and 8th grade science classes
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Track and report on student progress using best instructional and assessment practices
- Communicate with families, staff, and related service providers to maximize student achievement
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal special education requirements
